Make one home improvement

Here's a question that has the potential to generate a wide variety of answers.

If you have the opportunity to make one improvement in your home, what would it be?

I would enclose my front porch and install massive windows so that it will have the same feeling as an open porch. The decor will feature neutral earthy colors with green as the accent. I'll put in floor to ceiling corner shelves for some of my cherished collections including books, baskets and a couple of teapots from my kitchen.

Rattan chairs will be my seating of choice with pillows and a throw on each one.

I have the thing planned but how's this brief description for a start?

I love my front porch but would like to sit there when I awake at 2 o'clock in the morning and can't sleep. I'll sit and read or write and slip back into sleep, right there, curled up and covered with a throw, in a comfy rattan lounge chair.

I would create a library with lots of room for books. Since i live in the north country, I would have a stone fireplace with a couple of cozy chairs next to it. A big bay window of course so I can see what's going on outside. A wood floor with a thick cushy rug. A couple of blankets to wrap up in. A garden outside the window. Tea nearby to sip on. Lots of wood as in wood floor, paneled walls, wood shelves. colors are raspberry and green. And for summer, a screened porch that is airy and light, with wicker furniture, a panama fan, and chintz fabric in rose, green, and touches of blue on a white background. Gingham pillows. A lake to look at and listen to. A hummingbird feeder or two.
This is fun. I think I will continue to create my dream house! Thanks for this, Cheryl! This is great! xo

Diantha,

Thanks for jumping in and sharing your dream home improvement.

As a lover of books and wood finishes, I can imagine your library. Just the thought of those book-lined walls alone, makes me dizzy. And that view outside your porch - the lake and birds and garden - oooooh heavenly.

May I come and visit?

Hi Comella,

Thank you. Your photographs are stunning.

I come from Spanish heritage (my paternal grandmother was part Spanish and part Venezuelan Carib).

Although I studied Spanish in school, I still can't speak it but I have a secret dream to visit Spain some day.

Would you consider installing a language translator (Babel) on your blog so that I can read the description of your photographs?
